The biggest release was
ContaxCRM 2.0 and the ContaxCRM Suite, but I’ll talk about them in a different post.The three products listed above have all been updated to make the trial procedure better for the potential customer and more profitable for Arten Science
When the 30 Day Trial period is over and the potential customer trys to run the program, two things happen. Firstly, the browser is opened pointing to our online store for the appropriate product, encouraging the potential customer to purchase.
The second thing that happens is that a screen similar to the one below is shown, thanking the potential customer for trying our product and allowing them to enter a serial number and user id when they have purchased one
Like everything else in life, make it easy and straightforward and people are more inclined to use it. An easy and smooth experience should be experienced from the first look at the website to the everyday use of the purchased product.
A major project for Arten Science going forward involves looking at every facet of our business and trying to improve the user experience. I am convinced the time invested will pay dividends.
Another improvement to these three products in the latest releases is to do with downloading the trial version and also upgrading an existing version of our software.
From today onwards the download from our site and those of our distributors will include the complete version of the product, needing only a user id and serial number to change the product from Trial to Full. When upgrading to the latest version from within the application though, only the files that need updating are downloaded for you. These files can then be dragged and dropped into the product folder, after making sure you quit the program first. These small changes will make living with our products simpler and more straightforward than previously.
All of these updates are of course free of charge.

Three updates today. Nothing serious, in general we have changed the trial version to a standard 30 Day Trial and also implemented
ContaxCRM Suite licensing so you only need the one serial number for the whole suite. In addition the ooSooMpro update includes a bug fix to the Unicode handling.The new releases are as follows:

The four main components of the
R10Office suite have all been updated today.
ContaX CRM Each application has been updated so that when the program is run for the first time a default database is created, rather than the user having to create it manually. In addition, when downloading an update a message is shown to the user explaining the procedure that should be followed. Both of the above features are designed to make life easier for the user and to avoid any areas of potential confusion. ooSooM has received a new, much asked for, feature. The addition of ’Tick Boxes’ against each Todo Item. To mark an item as Complete you can just click the box. An Archive feature will be added in a future release, that will take each ’ticked’ item and store them separately under an Archive heading. That’s all for now folks

This version has had some alterations to make it more powerful and effective as a member of the R10Office suite.
As well as being able to select your contacts for the mailing from your ContaX database, you can now write the results of the mailing back to each individual contact in the ContaX database. This will be stored as part of their History.

R10BatchMail has been updated to version 1.9.3
You can download it from here.
This version has had some alterations to make it fit more nicely within the R10Office suite.
If you are upgrading from a Previous Version ...
This update of R10BatchMail features a change in the location of the R10BatchMail Support Files.
These files are now expected to be in the same folder as the R10BatchMail application.
You can input your Preferences into R10BatchMail again, or you can copy your existing files from their current location to the same folder as R10BatchMail.
The current locations of these files for both Mac OSX and Windows 7 are shown below. Other operating systems may vary. In addition the folders may have the 'hidden' attribute set in Windows.

Sending Bulk Email

When using a bulk / batch email sending program such as R10BatchMail you need to input the details of your email provider. These details are know as SMTP, Simple Mail Transport Protocol, and they consist of a User name, a Password, a Server and a Port.
Your batch email program does the job of forwarding the email to the SMTP provider and the SMTP provider does the job of actually delivering the email to the recipient.
We all have an SMTP provider but it is likely that this provider will object should we intended to send more than a few hundred emails per day. If our database consists of several thousand customers that we need to communicate with via email then we should be looking at something like the service provided by AuthSMTP.
These guys provide a virtually unlimited email sending capability. Their prices are annual and based on a given number of emails per month. Have a look, I’m happy with them

R10BatchMail Update - Personalised Bulk Email

Version 1.7.1 of R10BatchMail supports the injection of the recipients name into the message body. For this to work you need to type **NAME** at the location within the message body that you wish the name to be displayed. When the mail is sent the **NAME** is replaced with the recipients name. If the recipients full name is listed in the recipients column of R10BatchMail, then only the First Name is used.
For Example: Steve Cholerton becomes Steve, and Steve remains as Steve.
This function only works for messages that are entered into the message box of R10BatchMail, for aesthetic and layout reasons this does not work when you are Direct Linking to an HTML file.

I had intended to completely rewrite the documentation for R10BatchMail Version 1.7.0, however I have just added the ability to send Email Attachments which a number of users have asked for, so I have released 1.7.0 with the existing documentation. I can assure you new documentation is however coming soon
There are now many features in R10BatchMail that are not even mentioned in the manual I am ashamed to say, so it will be given priority. Soon. I promise !

R10BatchMail is useful for sending a newletter, informing of change of address, marketing or any one of a thousand other reasons for contacting your customers, prospects or suppliers.
With R10BatchMail there is no need to clutter up your Address Book with prospects in order to contact them via email. Data is imported into R10BatchMail from an industry standard TAB Delimited file. A TAB Delimited file can be created from almost any application that holds data, and is the default format for 'bought in' lists.
R10BatchMail records what was send and who to and allows you to export this history to Excel, a TAB Delimited File or Comma Separated File. From this file you can update your corporate database if necessary.
