Before using ContaxCRM it is worth spending a few minutes to go through the Configuration options. The configuration options are accessed from the Preferences screen. Choose the Preferences Menu option or push the Toolbar button.

The first tab License is where you enter your ContaxCRM registration details, your User Name and Serial Number. In addition if you have purchased an R10Cipher license you can enter your R10Cipher Serial Number and enable the Encryption capabilities of ContaxCRM.

The second tab Configuration shows you the path to your current ContaxCRM database and gives you several options to set.

Most of the options are self explanatory but a couple of them deserve further explanation. If your database is located on your local machine or anywhere on your local network then you should check the 'High Speed Network' option. If your database is located somewhere remotely, ie: hosted in the Cloud or on the Web then this option should not be checked.

The 'My ID' field is where you can enter the Customer Number of your own contact record. It is a good idea to enter yourself into ContaxCRM so that you can build the relationships between yourself and your other contacts. If your Customer Number is entered into this field then you can always quickly view your own details from the ContaxCRM main screen using the 'Me' button. See the following screenshot.

Once you have been through the tabs of the Preferences window and made any changes you require, ContaxCRM is ready to use.

You can of course re-visit the Preferences window at any time to make changes as your requirements change or as you define them more accurately as time goes on.
